Caption on reverse of photograph reads: "What's green, has four sides, and a new address? The Green Box. The Gift boutique, sponsored by our Women's Auxiliary Board, has just moved to 954 Lexington Ave. (between 69th and 70th Sts.). Mrs. Margaret Myles, Assistant Supervisor of the Hospital Rehabilitation Workshop is showing a customer some of the lovely handmade merchandise on display at the new store. Everything sold is made in the Workshop, which gives discharged patients a chance to work in a sheltered atmosphere until they are strong enough to go back to their regular jobs. With the Holidays approaching, why not stop by The Green Box for gift ideas? It's open 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. Mondays through Fridays; after Thanksgiving it will be open also on Saturday mornings."

These papers document Michael Caldwell's role in the Student Council of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine (1988-90) as well as his role as the Mount Sinai representative to the Organization of Student Representatives (OSR) of the American Association of Medical Colleges (1987-90). While serving on the Council, Caldwell spearheaded a movement to ensure that Mount Sinai became a smoke free environment. The Council passed a resolution, and Caldwell gathered information on making hospitals smoke free. He spoke to the Medical Board and was appointed to an institutional task force to make changes in this area.
These papers provide insights into the concerns of students during this time, as well as Caldwell's own interests in public health. The minutes from the Student Council have been removed to series.

The files of the Auxiliary Board form three series: Alphabetical Files, Minutes, and Project Files. The Alphabetical Files include the annual reports of the Auxiliary, as well as guidelines for the Program Review Committee, brochures about the group, by-laws, and miscellaneous memos. The Minutes of the Board date from 1918-May 2002. Included here are also Legislative Committee minutes from 10/1978-1986. The Project Files have folders for each project funded from 1969-2008. The files contain: Project Review and Funding Committee minutes relating to that project, project proposals, correspondence with the grantee, budget/account information on each project, and reports of the project. Sometimes flyers, newsletters or other products about the project are included in the files. The changing scope of the projects reflects the changes at Mount Sinai as well as in healthcare in general.
